You could get up to $7,000 towards your relocation costs
You could get one of a limited number of Overseas Relocation Grants worth up to NZ$7000 to cover your costs. But hurry – demand for these grants is high.

Things you can do before you head home
Did you get any additional qualifications outside of New Zealand?
If your qualifications are not on the pre-approved overseas qualifications list you will need to have them assessed by the NZQA.
Are you currently registered to teach in New Zealand?
Search the Teaching Council’s online register to check whether you hold a practising certificate or full registration in New Zealand.
Do you need to do the TER Programme?
Find out from the Teaching Council whether you’ll need to complete the Teacher Education Refresh (TER) programme. If you do, funding is available to cover the cost of the course.
Worked in education overseas?
Statements of service will need to be provided as part of your salary assessment, and it’s much easier to get them before you leave the overseas country you’ve worked in. Check out the NOVO7t form for details on how to correctly format your statements of service.
